πνιγμένη αγάπη σε λίμνες φωτός.

Ο Πικάσο ούρλιαξε εφιάλτες,
κραυγάζοντας: σκαρφάλωσε μέσα σου,
υπάρχει μια τρέλα εκεί.

Ο Μπρακ έδωσε την ηχώ, ακριβώς.

Ο Μοντριάν φανέρωσε τετράγωνα.

Καθώς οι Μεξικανοί μούγκριζαν
στο αστέρι που διέσχιζε την Ινδιάνικη Νύχτα,
το Παρικουτίν* ξέβρασε φωτιά,
ανθίζοντας κόκκινο από τη μαύρη γη.

Ο Μοντιλιάνι, γυμνός, φανέρωσε θλίψη.

Ο Ντεγκά φανέρωσε αγγέλους σε δέρματα μπαλέτου,
καπνίζοντας πίσω από τοίχους
στους αψινθιοτεκέδες της Μασσαλίας.

Η Κόλβιτς σέρβιρε δάκρυα σε ξύλινα κουτάλια,
κάτω από μαύρα φεγγάρια, για πάντα λυπημένα.

Ο Ρουσό απ’ το παράθυρό του
ούρλιαξε ποίηση
σ’ αυτόν τον τρελό κόσμο.

Ένα φλεγόμενο πουλί σφύριξε από ψηλά:
καταβρόχθισέ τα όλα,
πέθανε!

*Παρικουτίν: Ηφαίστειο στην πολιτεία Μιτσοακάν του κεντρικού Μεξικού. Εξερράγη για πρώτη φορά, τον Φεβρουάριο του 1943. Σήμερα παραμένει ανενεργό.

BIRD WITH PAINTED WINGS

Monet whispered softly,
drowned in love in lakes of light

Picasso cried nightmares,
screaming: climb through you,
there is some craziness in there.

Brac hit the tone, spot on.

Montrealer has shown himself a square.

As the Mexicans swarm
at the star crossing the Indian Night,

Parikutin* caught fire,
blooming red from the black earth.

Montiliani, naked, expressed sadness.
Dega performed angels in ballet skins,
smoking behind walls
in the absinthe dunes of Marseille.

Kolvich served tears on wooden spoons,
under black moons, forever sad.

The Russian from his window
she screamed poetry
in this crazy world.

A burning bird whistled from above:
gobble it all up,
she died!

*Parikutin: Volcano in the state of Michoacan of central Mexico. It exploded for the first time in February 1943. Today it remains inactive.
