Poetry Afternoon – Sunday, 16 August 2015, 4.00pm, Steps Gallery, 62 Lygon St., Carlton, Melbourne

antipodeanpalette-326x159

As an extension of the 2015 Antipodean Palette, the Greek Australian Cultural League will host an afternoon of poetry centred about the theme of ‘poetry as a healing agent.’ Eight Greek-Australian poets will entertain the audience with pieces intimately connected to the part creativity can play in self-development and healing. Accompanying them will be the special guest poet M.G. Michael for what promises to be a cerebrally stimulating and memorable afternoon.

M.G. Michael is a Sydney-born poet and academic. He is an Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Wollongong, and his poetry has been published in the anthology Southern Sun, Aegean Light (edited by N.N. Trakakis), as well as in a number of literary journals, including Southerly, Westerly, and Ulitarra. He participated in the Antipodes Writer’s Festival held in Melbourne in 2012. His poetry book titled Keepers of a Great Memory is the third in a new series of chapbooks edited by Nick Trakakis, Helen Nickas and Peter Lyssiotis, and published by Owl Publishing, Melbourne.

The other presenters are Dimitris Troaditis, Panayiota (Pixie) Trangas, Steve Messinis, Athina Ginakis, Nick Trakakis, George Athanasiou, Monika Athanasiou and Paul Kiritsis

The ‘poetry as a healing agent’ readings will take place on 16th August, 2015, at 4.00pm at the Steps Gallery, 62 Lygon St., Carlton.

For further details please contact Paul Kiritsis, the host of the event, on 0487-902-169.

We hope to see you there!
