Juan Garrido-Salgado is a poet currently living on Kaurna country, Adelaide. Juan came with his family to Australia from Chile under the Humanitarian Programme in 1990, fleeing from a regime which burned his poetry and imprisoned him for his political activism. He has written (in both Spanish and English) about social justice and human rights, and has published in Chile, Columbia,Spain, El Salvador, Europe, New Zealand and australia.
Arad Niksefat is a poet and writer currently living on Jaara country, Castlemaine. Arad came to australia from Iran seeking asylum in 2012. He fled a regime that had imprisoned him for his human rights activism and writing. Arad continues to write poetry and story highlighting the plight of people seeking asylum, people like himself. HIs work has been published in Iran, presented at various live events, and his poetry is to appear in forth-coming anthologies in australia
Janet Galbraith is a poet and writer living on Jaara country, Castlemaine. Janet was born on Wirradjuri land and grew up in lands of the Duduroa where her family had been involved in the stealing of land and displacement of the Duduroa people over many generations. Janet facilitates Writing Through Fences, a writing group made up of people writing from within immigration detention. Her collection of poetry, ‘re-membering’ was published by Walleah Press, 2013
