The very next poetry@fedsquare program will be held on 17 Sept, 2-4pm in the Atrium, Beer De Lux/Grill Room, and features a group of contemporary Greek-Australian voices, some of whom may be well known to you, others who may surprise you.
We hope that many of you can join us for what promises to be a lively, warm and friendly event in the convivial atmosphere of the Grill Room at Beer De Lux. and of course we trust that you can forward the information to all those writers & readers on your emailing list.
The Feature poets are Konstandina Dounis and Dimitri Troaditis.
Konstandina Dounis born in Melbourne, Australia. She lectured for many years during which she convened a series of conferences on aspects of Greek-Australian literature and identity. Her publications include From Σαπφώ to Sappho (RMIT, 1994), the anthology Retelling the Tale (edited with Helen Nickas, Owl 1994), the children’s book Zorro, the Adventures of an Australian Terrier (Pisces, 2006), a collection of poems Poems For My Mother (Olive Grove Press, 2009), numerous journal articles as well as many translations from Greek into English of poetry and prose works. Recently her translations of Dina Amanatides poetry published under the title Dreams of Clay – Drops of Dew (Owl, 2011).
Dimitri Troaditis born in 1959 in Athens, Greece. Came to Australia in 1992. Worked as a store packer, printer, bookshop assistant, community radio announcer and proof-reader. Participated in a shadow puppet theatre troupe and a music group in ‘70s and ‘80s. Been writing poetry since his teens. In 1997, he self-published a poetry book in Greek, H orgh, to oneiro kai h zwh (The rage, the dream and life). Poems of his won prizes in Literary Competitions. His poetry has been published in the “Antipodes” and “O Logos” journals in Australia, and in various magazines and blogs in Greece. He is currently general secretary of Greek-Australian Cultural League of Melbourne and editor of their literary magazine “Antipodes”. He is managing https://tokoskino.wordpress.com

poetry@fedsquare is a FREE literary platform that promotes and sustains writers and writings.
It is held between 2- 4pm on the third Saturday of each month in the Grill Room at Beer De Lux, and is open to all genre of poetry & in particular champions the inclusion of poetry in translation.
At poetry@fedsquare, we showcase established authors and writers not yet famous who may want to test their poetry in the open readings component of the program. Generally there are two feature poets & up to 10 open readings presented each month, this however, is not set in concrete and can vary from month to month.
Interested presenters can read/ perform their own poetry, or someone-else’s poetry; however, if the work is in copyright the reader needs to declare on a form provided by us that they have their permission to read the text in public.
